Read All Music Guide's review of That's Right!:

"From the opening notes of "She's Blowing Up," which can only be compared to the bliss of vintage Buzzcocks, the Behoovers are a power-pop lover's wet dream. "Girl of My Dreams" is crunchy, Cars-like magic, "Pop Star In Space" is an urgent, hilarious swipe at Lance Bass, while "The Pleasures of Forgetting" and "Selfer" are as alluring as anything in the Kinks' mid-'60s catalog. Couple that with "Broken Cog," which chronicles the split between frontman Jon Fox and his wife with the kind of earnestness Rivers Cuomo hasn't shown since Pinkerton and you've already got enough reasons to grab it. The fact that the Behoovers do the impossible, breathing new, edgy life into the Beatles' 1964 classic "A World Without Love" is icing on the cake. The best of the pack is easily the gripping "Mary Lou," however, as Fox taps a nerve by singing this goodbye song atop a Ramones-inspired backdrop. "She lived right near Gracie Mansion" he sadly intones of the friend he lost in the 2001 World Trade Center Attacks. The Behoovers may not be as wry as Fountains of Wayne, but fans of the style will identify with That's Right! just the same." — John D. Luerssens

The Behoovers isn't the youngest band in the world (the four guys are in their thirties and forties), and we all know rock and roll is typically a youthful idiom. But an advantage to the band's seasoning is that it enables the members to draw knowledgably on about fifty years of rock and roll influences (primary ones including Johnny Cash, The Kinks, New York Dolls, Angry Samoans, The Pixies, Weezer and Rancid).

Three Behoovers used to play together in a pop-punk band called The Cogs. (The fourth member, Jim Santo, was a neighborhood friend since his days in Jenifer Convertible and now does double-duty with The Sharp Things.)

Behoovers vocalist Jon Fox used to be married to The Cogs' lead singer and when the marriage broke up, so did that band. Thankfully, this tumultuous experience and its aftermath inspired a bucket of songs tackling grown-up issues and ideas with varying dollops of sadness, defiance, and humor.

That's Right! by The Behoovers The fallout is a fourteen-song CD — That's Right! — that successfully intertwines the mysterious power of real rock and roll, with the genuine thoughts, insights and emotions of people who've been around the block once or twice.

The bulk of the songs were written shortly after September 11, 2001 and the disc was recorded in a former fire station in Providence Rhode Island. In one way or another, a primary theme here is loss. But there's a strong undercurrent of hope and redemption, too.

Hopefully, instead of slitting their wrists, listeners will be inspired to pick up their own guitar, go out and see a rock show, or tell a good joke to a friend.
